Romania Joins the F-35 Lightning II Program


Romania has joined the F-35 Lightning II program, signing a Letter of Offer and Acceptance for 32 of the most advanced, connected and capable fighter jets in the world. 

Romania is the 20th member of the F-35 global fleet, demonstrating its position as a leader in European defense. This milestone marks a significant step forward in Romania's defense strategy and commitment to maintaining a robust and advanced military. The F-35 is the most cost-effective solution for Romania, combining unprecedented operational capability with an affordable, efficient global sustainment network.

A 30-Year Partnership

For nearly 30 years, the Lockheed Martin team has worked with Romania as a trusted defense and security partner. Romania’s acquisition of the F-35 Lightning II is a testament to our enduring relationship and our shared commitment to maintaining a strong and capable military force. “We are pleased to welcome Romania into the F-35 enterprise,” said Lt.
