The F-35 Lighting II for Republic of Korea
The Republic of Korea faces a unique and complex threat environment. No other fighter aircraft in the world is better equipped to ensure the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) can maintain regional security stability than the 5th Generation F-35A Lightning II stealth fighter.
Programs Stats
The Republic of Korea selected the F-35 Lighting II for their F-X III fighter program in 2014. The ROKAF are currently taking deliveries of 40 F-35A Conventional Take Off and Landing (CTOL) aircraft.
Base Locations
The ROKAF’s 17th Fighter Wing operates the F-35 out of Cheongju Air Base.
Program Milestones
- 2014: The Republic of Korea concluded its F-X III fighter acquisition program and selected the F-35.
- 2018: The first F-35A for the ROKAF, known as aircraft AW-1, took flight in Fort Worth, Texas.
- 2018: The first F-35A for the ROKAF delivered to Luke AFB, Arizona, for pilot training.
- 2019: The first F-35As were delivered to their permanent base at Cheongju Air Base.
대한민국의 F-35 라이트닝 II
프로그램 현황
대한민국은 2014년 3차 FX 사업을 통해 F-35 라이트닝 II을 차세대 전투기로 선정하였다. 현재 기본형 F-35A 40대가 대한민국 공군에 성공적으로 인도 중이다.
기지 위치
대한민국 공군의 제17전투비행단이 청주비행장에서 F-35를 운용하고 있다.
프로그램 성과
- 2014년 대한민국이 F-35를 기종으로 최종 선정하면서 FX 3차 사업을 마무리 지었다.
- 2018년 대한민국 공군이 인수할 F-35A 1호기 AW-1호기가 텍사스 포트 워스에서 출고됐다.
- 2018년 대한민국 공군의 F-35A 1호기가 조종 훈련을 위해 미국 애리조나 주 루크 공군기지에 도착했다.
- 2019년 대한민국 공군에 대한 F-35A 첫 번째 인도 분이 청주 비행장에 도착했다.
