Signed, Sealed, Delivered – 500th F-35

This week, we delivered the 500th F-35. The 500th shows the maturity of the F-35 program and our readiness for full-rate production. I commend you for your work to produce these jets and keep 'em flying.

The 500th F-35 is a U.S. Air Force F-35A. The aircraft will call the Burlington Air National Guard Base, Vermont home. Five hundred F-35s include 353 F-35A conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL) variants, 108 F-35B short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL) variants and 38 F-35C carrier (CV) variants for the U.S. and international customers.

This is a direct result of the talent and dedication of the entire F-35 enterprise. I am proud to be your teammate in developing, producing and sustaining this revolutionary aircraft that will protect our skies for generations to come. Thank you for your efforts and onward to 1,000!

Girl Power: Meet the 2020 USAF F-35A Demo Team Pilot

Last week, the F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team announced its 2020 pilot. Capt. Kristin “Beo” Wolfe will fly the F-35A and bring the lightning across the globe. Capt. Wolfe becomes the first female F-35A Demo Team pilot and only the second F-35A Demo Team Pilot in history.

“It’s extremely humbling and rewarding to get the opportunity to showcase the F-35A at so many different locations,” Capt. Wolfe said. “It’s a privilege to work with the best airmen from Hill Air Force Base, and to give people a small glimpse of what this jet is capable of.”

Capt. Wolfe has been transitioning to the F-35A from the F-22 since 2017. She has logged approximately 800 total flight hours.

The USAF F-35A Demo Team serves as F-35 ambassadors around the world. I want to congratulate Capt. Wolfe and the entire team and I look forward to a fantastic 2020 season!
