Simulator Gives Burr Taste of the Future of Marine Aviation
U.S. Sen. Richard Burr took two trips around the airfield, throwing in a barrel roll and a pair of gentle landings.
And he never once left the ground.
The Republican North Carolina senator was among the dignitaries who had the chance to step into the cockpit and fly an F-35 simulator Wednesday at the Havelock Tourist and Event Center.
“Let’s just say that even though it’s on the ground, it still gets your heart beating,” Burr said of his flight.
Lockheed Martin, the manufacturers of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, came to Havelock with the simulator to promote the capabilities of the fifth generation jet aircraft.Read the entire article from the Jacksonville Daily News.
