FNSB Regional Growth Plan Prepares for F-35 Squadrons
The Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce held a luncheon today to discuss the two F-35 jet squadrons arriving at Eielson Air Force Base, and how the community ought to prepare for their arrival.
Shelly Wade, who was the guest speaker at the event, talked about the preliminary population and employment projections for Eielson. She also shared some revised housing estimates, and the increased numbers of children in the borough.
The arrival of the F-35's is expected to bring about 3,500 new residents to the Fairbanks North Star Borough. The borough, along with the Arcadis Project Team, have partnered up to start a regional growth plan to help the borough get ready for the F-35 squadrons.
