F-35As Land at RAF Fairford

RAF Fairford // June 30, 2016

After an almost 8-hour journey from Langley AFB, Virginia, three F-35As from Luke AFB’s Heritage flight team landed at RAF Fairford on June 30 at 8:26 p.m. local time, marking the first time an F-35 A variant has landed on UK soil.

The jets join two USMC and one UK F-35B to total six F-35s now on the ground in the UK. This group of F-35s will support the upcoming Royal International Air Tattoo and Farnborough Air Show in the UK.

The three F-35As were accompanied by a KC-10 that carried personnel and cargo and served to refuel the jets on their trip.
