East Stroudsburg high flyer reaches her goal; Woman gets plum assignment with Navy
The Navy's new F-35C Joint Strike Fighter is expected to be the eyes and ears of the fleet inside hostile airspace when it debuts.
One of the new jets will be captained by East Stroudsburg resident Melissa Deresky, the first female captain for the Navy's newest stealth aircraft.
"I'm surprised by this promotion, but I guess a lot of hard work has paid off," said Deresky, a 2011 graduate of East Stroudsburg High School North.
Deresky said she's been in the Navy for nearly two years and her experience before being named the first female captain of the F-35C had already been satisfying.Read the full story from the Pocono Record.
