Debut of F-35B highlights 2014 at Cherry Point

The future of Marine Corps aviation and of Cherry Point made its East Coast debut at the Cherry Point Air Show.

The F-35B Joint Strike Fighter flew demonstration flights on May 17 and 18 at the show. About 110,000 people attended the three-day event, which included various aerial demonstrations and the debut of the F-35B. The plane’s short takeoff and vertical landing capabilities were showcased as well as its ability to hover.
