Michael D. Rothwell (Mike)
Maintenance Instructor
Mike Rothwell is a helicopter maintenance instructor for Sikorsky Training Academy. He joined the Academy in 2018 after retiring from the United States Coast Guard where he served as an Aviation Maintenance Technician.
In his role with Sikorsky Training Academy, Mr. Rothwell is responsible for the development and execution of maintenance specific training courses for all commercial, international, and military customers. These courses include Airframe and Powerplant, Avionics, and aircraft systems and troubleshooting courses.
Mr. Rothwell has over 20 years of military experience. During his career in the United States Coast Guard Mr. Rothwell served as a helicopter ground mechanic, aircrewman, flight mechanic, instructor, flight examiner, maintenance supervisor, and quality assurance inspector where he provided subject matter expertise for rotary wing powerplant, mechanical, hydraulic, structural, avionics systems, and flight operations.
During Mr. Rothwell’s honorable service in the United States Coast Guard, he received operational training on rotary wing aircraft, as well as maintenance training for both inflight and ground testing procedures. He also earned an Airframe and Powerplant License and an Associates of Applied Science degree in Electro-Mechanical Technologies.
