Chief Pilot,
Standardization and Training
José Nieves is the Chief Pilot for Standardization and Training at Sikorsky, A Lockheed Martin Company. He is responsible for standardizing and developing all processes and procedures that support global flight operations. Mr. Nieves also serves as the Chief Pilot for the Sikorsky Training Academy and as a Production Test Pilot for all US Army H60, S-70, and Naval MH-60R/S series helicopters, where he is responsible for the development of aircraft and their subsystems as well as production test flying.
Mr. Nieves holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license with type ratings in the S-92, S-70M and S-70, and qualified in the S-76A and S-76D aircraft. He also holds an FAA Certified Flight Instructor certificate and is qualified as an FAA NVG Flight Instructor. He has accumulated over 5,700 mishap-free flight hours in several types of rotary wing aircraft, including numerous Sikorsky commercial and military derivative production aircraft.
Mr. Nieves earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Aeronautics and his Master’s Degree in Aviation Management with a specialization in Global Aviation Enterprises from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.
