Building on Momentum
The F-35 program team began 2013 with momentum from 2012 in test, production and deliveries. In 2013, Lockheed Martin delivered 35 F-35s and finalized contracts for 71 more aircraft in Low Rate Initial Production lots 6 and 7. Program highlights include:
100th F-35 Inaugurated
On Dec. 13, Lockheed Martin celebrated production of the 100th F-35 with employees and guests from the U.S. Air Force. The 100th F-35 is an F-35A conventional takeoff and landing aircraft destined for Luke Air Force Base, Ariz., for U.S. Air Force and international partner pilot training.

Second Round of F-35B Ship Trials Complete
In August, the F-35B short takeoff/vertical landing variant completed its second round of ship trials aboard the USS Wasp. The trials, known as Developmental Test-II, expanded the F-35B's flight envelope at sea, including night operations and internal weapons loads.

First F-35C Delivered
The first Lockheed Martin F-35C Lightning II Navy carrier variant (CV) aircraft, CF-6, arrived at Strike Fighter Squadron 101 located at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., on June 22. The jet is the Navy’s first 5th generation F-35 production aircraft. Read more.

F-35A Operational Test Begins
The U.S. Air Force's Operational Test and Evaluation of the F-35A began with deliveries of four aircraft each to Nellis and Edwards Air Force Bases. Information gathered during Operational Test and Evaluation will help teams establish how the F-35A will be used in an operational environment and how it will integrate with other aircraft in the Air Force inventory.
